We are in the final stretch! I am 39 weeks! I can not believe for the life of me how quickly time has gone. It seems like just yesterday I found out I was pregnant. We are absolutely thrilled to welcome this little boy into the world. It could happen really at any time. I’m hoping to not go over my due date as I’m sure every woman hopes. If I go over a week and am induced I would deliver on Thanksgiving Day which although trilled to have him here, I would like to spend the day with family, not nurses. But it seems every one I know goes over their due date so I’m mentally keeping that in mind. We still have not come to a final decision on a name. We like two names and I think we are just planning to see what name seems to suit him.

I have started to look like I’m hiding a basketball up my shirt. I love this little round belly of a baby boy. I feel like he has so much personality already. He responds when you poke him. I think he can hear Mr M and I too because when we are loud he gets pretty active.

38 weeks

26 weeks

I have loved being pregnant and count myself so very blessed that things have gone so smoothly and so well. I have felt really good for the most part. Around 28 weeks my doctor did an in-office ultrasound and found that his stomach was smaller around that it should have been at that point. She sent me to the clinic next door and they did an in-depth ultrasound. The results showed that his stomach was indeed smaller around that it should be. It wasn’t much of a concern because the rest of his body was right on track. His head and femur measured where they should so they wanted me to follow up in 4 weeks and ensure that he was still growing at a good rate.

Around 32 weeks I had my follow up ultrasound. They measured everything again and again his stomach was lagging behind in growth. It had grown since the last ultrasound, but it was still behind. Because of how crowded things get in there, and how much they do grow it is hard to get a 100% accurate measurement on the stomach. The results they got put his stomach in the bottom 3%. Meaning he is a long skinny baby. His other measurements looked good and so I was told by that doctor to go on and have a nice life.

My OB doctor however wanted to be more thorough that the Fetal Medicine doctor did and so she had me start doing non-stress tests. So every week since I have gone to the hospital two times a week for non-stress tests. They call them non-stress because you sit in a chair and they just hook you to a fetal monitor. They monitor for any contractions and check to make sure that his heart rate has 3 spikes in 20 minutes. His heart rate will spike when he moves around. Meaning it temporarily will jump from 130 beats a minute to 150 beats a minute. We have passed every test with flying colors. The nurses all say we are great patients and he is a happy baby boy because he always has at least 8 spikes in those 20 minutes.

I had another follow up ultrasound at 37 weeks to make sure that things were still looking good. If they showed he wasn’t growing enough it would mean there is a problem with the placenta or umbilical cord and they would induce me early. The tests however looked good.  The ultrasound tech showed me the little skin rolls on his back and printed off some pictures of his little face. I had a different doctor and he explained things very well, was pleased with the measurements and said that we have as far as he can tell a very happy healthy baby boy who will come out very skinny. He has continued to grow and his overall percentages were in the upper 30’s. Meaning we still have a skinny little boy but that he is near the average of 50%. He said he has seen this quite often and it is a small nutrient deficiency that should clear up after he is born. I guess I don’t quite pass all of the nutrients needed. He said not to worry about it though and he saw no reason for inducing me early. My doctor agreed and so we are now left playing the waiting game.

So thats the update. We can’t wait to have him here! Every day I think, this could be it. Every day I live in the elation of soon I will get to meet this sweet baby boy!
