NEW ADVENTURES: A BUSINESS

Hey guys,

Its been a while. A long while. 2 months in fact. Thanks for hanging in there with me. I’m excited to share with you today what I have been working on while taking time off of the blog. I’m really so excited to share!

I started my own business. It took a lot of encouragement from Mr M and my family to start it, but it’s off and running as of today. It’s on Etsy and my shop NurtureBabyCompany, is inspired by this blog. Please check it out and tell your friends.

Inspired by my little man I’ve started selling handmade baby shoes. I’ve spent the last few months drafting patterns and creating little prototypes to try and get my style just right. Its still a learning process as I’m trying new designs and trying to figure out sizes.

Each pair takes 1-2 hours to make and is a labor of love. I’m really excited about the designs I’ve come up with.

The soft soles are perfect for that first year of life when baby is always on the move. Because they are a soft sole shoe they don’t provide adequate protection for those walking little ones outside. With a slip on style they are easy to put on and actually stay on baby’s feet. You can choose to go with or without socks.

These striped shoes were the first pair I made my little one this summer. Followed by a pair of denim flag shoes for the 4th of July. Because of all of the compliments he got and questions I’ve decided to start selling them so your little one can have a pair too.

I’m selling them on Esty in a variety of styles and sizes. My shop is NurtureBabyCompany A few items are ready to ship already and others are made after you place your order.

The idea is that because it’s a handmade business I want my designs and fabrics to always evolve and change. I don’t want to be stuck making 3 items FOREVER. So styles and sizes will come and go and may not always be available. So when you see something you like be sure to snatch it up!

This little pair I created with your little girl’s Blessing or Christening day in mind. I love the lace and these are in my top favorites!

Did I mention that I also make baby boots?

Complete with pleather toe and sole these boots are styling! I wish I could make a pair for myself!

And the brass zippers. Making the boots easy to put on!

Don’t fear you moms of boys. I created this business because of a desire to create cute clothes for my little boy. We all know its easy to come by little girl cuteness, but it takes some real effort to dress a little boy cute. I’m in love with flannel this fall and so I created a specific boy flannel and denim shoe.

Looking for a gift or maybe something less gender specific? I’m also trying to offer some unisex shoes that would be perfect for little boys or girls.

When I created this design I imagined these Aztec shoes paired with some really cute leggings and watching some wobbly legs try and take their first steps.

So here’s to hoping that my little shoe business takes off (or at least does well enough to pay for my hobbies). Feel free to spread the word and buy a pair or two for your little one or someone you know!

And it is not too early to be thinking about the holidays! I’ll have more designs coming but if you are looking for a handmade gift this season (no one said you had to be the one to do the hand-making) I promise these are made with love!

I’ll be sure to keep the blogging going on the side and won’t leave you in the dark 😉 I’ve got plenty of recipes brewing in the kitchen as well as some thoughts that need sharing!

Here’s a little about me: I usually don’t buy things that I could make. I like to read and learn. I have dreams of being a mom, living in foreign countries, and trying new things. I take a ton of pictures. I collect rocks from the places I’ve been. I’m trying to learn French. I like to eat. I’m a Mormon.
