SIMPLE LAUNDRY ORGANIZATION

If you are anything like me there is at least one area of your house that you walk by and try and hide out of existence. Maybe it is a closet (if you are fortunate) that you can shut the door to, or a room that you can keep people out of. For me it is the laundry room. In my current apartment and in my previous apartment we have been fortunate enough to have a washer and dryer. The unfortunate part however is both apartments put the washer and dryer in a hallway with no doors. We have plenty of shelving, but we are storing EVERYTHING on those shelves so it looks quite cluttered. Anyone who walks anywhere in my place can see my mess of a laundry room.

Doesn’t this scene just depress you. Such a drab messy space that unfortunately I can’t hide. I guess it could be worse right? We could have one of those apartments where the washer and dryer are directly in the kitchen. Or we could have to use a laundromat.

I came up with a simple solution one day to try and at least look more organized.  We were trying to store laundry stuff (of course) on the shelves, but also trying to store our cleaning supplies, and a bunch of random things we would keep in a garage if we had one. My solution was to buy these $1 bins from the dollar store and “hide my mess”. You know what, it worked! I can’t begin to tell you how much better it looks with a $4 dollar store purchase. That can fit any anyone’s budget right!?!

I added a few little labels and hooked them on with alligator clips. Done. No more messy shelf! I’m no longer afraid to let people into my house.

It looks so much better. My cleaning rags are neatly hidden in the bins. It makes cleaning a breeze because I grab the whole bucket and take it with me. No more cleaning supplies tipping over, sponges sitting out. It was such a simple fix, I wish I had thought of it sooner!

Give it a try and see what the dollar store can do for you!

Here’s a little about me: I usually don’t buy things that I could make. I like to read and learn. I have dreams of being a mom, living in foreign countries, and trying new things. I take a ton of pictures. I collect rocks from the places I’ve been. I’m trying to learn French. I like to eat. I’m a Mormon.
